OUR STORY

AN INDEPENDENTLY OWNED PUB & DINING ROOM

Tucked away in the back streets of Little Chelsea in Barnes, South West London serving great food, great beer and great wine!

Our traditional free house stands in the heart of the historic village of Barnes.

The Brown Dog is a cherished community pub that has existed for years. Warm, accessible and inclusive, we welcome everyone – locals, tourists, children and dogs alike.

At The Brown Dog, we aim to be a true part of the community around us.

We understand the importance of carefully selecting our suppliers and we are proud to work with some amazing British producers allowing our menu to change with the seasons.

A major component of hospitality has, and always should be, a sense of fun. As we re-establish ourselves as a neighbourhood staple, The Brown Dog hopes to be known as a place to have a good time. From fiery supper clubs and lazy Sunday roasts to relaxed mid-week cosy dining and a pint at the bar - we aim to cater for all.

The Brown Dog in Barnes is a historic pub dating back to 1898 when it was formerly known as The Rose of Denmark and still maintains many of its original features and an abundance of character.

With a bar serving up a carefully curated wine list, lagers and cask ales, including our very own Brown Dog Ale, The Brown Dog is the perfect spot to drop by for a couple of drinks. There is something for everyone on our deliciously seasonal menu full of home-cooked favourites and we look forward to welcoming you whether you are popping in for a quick bite or enjoying a more leisurely affair with friends and family.
